South Yorkshire Transport Trust, also known as SYTT is the regions premier transport heritage trust and registered charity.
'The History'
South yorkshire Transport Trust (SYTT) was formed by friends Darren Sentance and Gareth Atherton in the early 2000's. What started as a small venture to preserve some vehicles that they had both acquired through South Yorkshire Transport, Mainline and First Group quickly grew into a significant collection yesterdays heritage. It became a passion and almost obsession to seek out and rescue as many withdrawn vehicles as possible that could be shown in person providing a timeline of vehicles that were used in passanger service during the 70's through to the current day.
But the obsession didnt stop there with collecting ex service and cut down tow vehicles, cars, trucks depot signs and number plates, the trust even has a very early JCB!
As the collection grew, larger premises were needed, and amongst Meadowhall, Kimberworth, Tinsley and Penistone, the trust now resides at its Eastwood Premises in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
In May 2022, South Yorkshire Transport Trust became a registered charity: reg 1198891.

'The present day'
Today the trust has over 80 vehicles in various states of repair including trust owned vehicles and some owned by private individuals.
The collection is opened up 2-3 times a year at our 'Open Days' and our vehciles often visit other open and running days in support of our partners and collaborations. This is the ideal time that the general public, enthusiatsts and volunteers can gain entry to, view, and ride on the vehicles and to reminisce in the yester years, both in smell and feel.
Our large workshop and fabrication facility allows owners and volunteers to support the ongoing resoration and maintenance work on heritage vehicles, and this ranges fron structural welding, panel replacement, mechanical and electrical work right through to interior upholstery and exterior coach painting. We even have in house expertise that replicate legal lettering, transfers and adverts!
